              97 S Second St (Mon-Thurs 10am-6pm, Fri & Sat 10am-9pm, Sun noon-6pm). Comprehensive homage packed with photos, records, instruments and footage, ranging from the pre-Elvis years to Sun, Stax and beyond. $7.50.
              ·National Civil Rights Museum - Museum
              450 Mulberry St (June-Aug Mon & Wed-Sat 10am-6pm, Sun 1-6pm; Sept-May Mon & Wed-Sat 10am-5pm, Sun 1-5pm). Powerful, detailed museum built around the remains of the actual Lorraine Motel, where Dr Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated. $5.

              Mud Island (April-June & Sept-Nov Tues-Sun 10am-5pm; June-Sept daily 10am-8pm). Ingenious, enjoyable museum, including a full-size reconstructed steamboat and overview of Memphis music. $8.
              ·Sun Studio - Recording studio/museum
              706 Union Ave (June-Aug daily 9.30am-6.30pm, store 9am-7pm; Sept-May daily 10.30am-5.30pm, store 9am-7pm). Tiny room where Elvis, Johnny Cash and others cut their first records focusing around Elvis' original mike stand. Tours $8.
